Today’s vinyl flooring options are a far cry from the traditional vinyl of ten or twenty years ago. Homeowners choose vinyl flooring for its value, durability, and ability to look like a much more expensive floor than it is.
At DesignSouth we offer three types of vinyl flooring: luxury vinyl tile (LVT), luxury vinyl plank (LVP) and sheet vinyl. All three applications offer beautiful, water-resistant floors for your home.
Luxury vinyl tile is patterned and shaped like ceramic or porcelain tile. Some LVT is manufactured to be used with grout which makes it look even more like real tile. These tiles may be mixed and matched to create an elaborately patterned floor much like actual ceramic or porcelain tile.
Much like LVT, luxury vinyl plank is patterned after hardwood floors. Some styles include the popular handscraped wood texture of hardwood. LVP may be installed in multiple patterns such as diagonal and brick patterns.
Both LVT and LVP are acceptable for use in commercial and residential spaces and both come in glue down or click (floating) options. Not only are LVT and LVP waterproof, they are extremely scratch resistant and durable with many offering 25 year or even lifetime warranties. Because they are installed one piece at a time, if a piece of the floor is damaged the floor can be repaired by replacing just the damaged tile or plank.
Sheet vinyl offers another durable and more economical vinyl option. Sheet vinyl can be printed with a variety of patterns in a consistent pattern across an entire roll of product. Sheet vinyl typically comes in twelve foot wide rolls which makes it possible to cover the entire floor of a room without any seams.
Sheet vinyl offers some benefits economically, but in most cases installing this product requires a professional with tools specific for sheet vinyl installation. LVT and LVP may be installed more easily as a DIY project. (Although you’ll save time and money by hiring a pro to install any flooring.)
Whether you choose LVT, LVP or a sheet vinyl, you’ll find a beautiful product that’s soft and warm underfoot.
